Welcome to The Secret Garden Bistro, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Malham, Skipton, at Beck Hall on Cove Road. This enchanting bistro invites you to enjoy a unique dining experience amidst the soothing sounds of nature, where the gentle flow of the nearby stream enhances the tranquility of your meal.
The menu at The Secret Garden Bistro showcases a delightful array of dishes, with an emphasis on plant-based cuisine. Guests rave about the Slow Cooked Dales Salt Beef and Seasonal Market Fish, but it's the fully vegan options that truly shine. The Banana Blossom “Fish” and Chips emerges as a standout favorite, paired splendidly with flavorful chips and an innovative Indian-inspired tartar sauce. As one guest, Nicola Halsall, noted, the combination is nothing short of exceptional — a must-try for both vegans and non-vegans alike!

Indulge in the classic Sticky Toffee Pudding or the refreshing Passion Fruit Martini Cheesecake to cap off your dining experience. For a heavenly treat, don’t miss the Trio of Luxury Ice Cream — a perfect way to cool down while basking in the idyllic garden surroundings.
The expansive wine list features excellent selections such as Crescendo Pinot Grigio and Fernlands Sauvignon Blanc, providing the ideal accompaniment to any meal. And don’t forget to pair your dish with a local beer, as recommended by customer John Royle, while soaking in the breathtaking views of nature.
The dining experience here is elevated by the attentive staff who genuinely care about your culinary journey. They are not only knowledgeable about the menu but also provide personalized recommendations — as guest Alice Simons-Denville discovered during her visit. The inclusive atmosphere, particularly highlighted by the hiring of staff with learning difficulties, adds to the bistro's charm, making it a welcoming space for all diners.

“ Sit outside beside the stream and watch the birds flitting in their natural environment. Listen to stream flowing over the rocks. Try a local beer with some tempting food and the vegan sandwiches came highly recommended. ”
“ The banana blossom *fish* & chips were delicious. The chips were the most flavorful chips I have eaten in decades. The batter was light and crispy, the indian-inspired tartar sauce and mushy peas complimented the dish perfectly. The location, the service and the fact that it's fully plant based are all the icing on the already lovely cake. I visited in a party of 7, and was the only vegan but we all absolutely loved it and intend to visit again very soon. Very dog friendly, too. ”
“ Fabulous location for delicious food near SO close to malham cove. Brilliant how inclusive it is in more ways than one. Their food is delicious, varied and vegan and their staff are lovely and attentive. Ward was my server. He was really professional and clear about the menu, while giving loads of time for me to decide on my food. His recommendations were great. I also loved to see that there were staff with learning difficulties on their team. Thanks for a lovely meal and service. ”
“ Vegan paradise! Inventive, delicious food, served in a beautiful location. This is an absolute gem and you don't have to eat primarily plant based food to enjoy it but if you are vegan, you'll feel treated from start to finish. So much choice and all of it tasty. We will 100% be back for more. ”
“ The food is absolutely amazing! It’s entirely vegan. The kids’ menu is brilliant—full of flavoursome dishes. The lunch and evening menus are both wonderful. We highly recommend the banana blossom “fish and chips” but everything we had was delicious. We combined it with a walk up Malham Cove and an explore at Jubilee Cave. ”
“ The whole menu is vegan, so that’s a joyous start!! There are loads of gluten free options so me as a coeliac did not struggle..... Dog friendly and the start were really attentive. Also noticed that they are a living wage employer, which is pretty awesome.... The pomegranate mess, with cardamon cream and meringue was the best EVER!!!!! Can not recommend enough!!! ”
“ Great little place, we aren't vegan, but did have a veggie with us. All the food was amazing. the best burger ever was the comment from our Veggie. The staff and service were great. They are extremely dog friendly and brought our tired 4 month old springer, water, treats, and even a dog mat for her to lay on to keep her off the floor. Absolutely fantastic. ”
“ Spent a 2-night stay at Beck Hall, so had 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts, and a lunch at The Secret Garden Bistro... and they were all amazing. I'm plant-based, but my partner isn't, and we were both impressed with everything we were served. All dietary/ allergen information is readily available, and staff were great at helping to accommodate. The restaurant has a lovely vibe and close-up views of the beautiful beck outside. Our puppy was very welcome to sit with us, and was offered a bed & treats whilst we ate. The menu was extensive and varied, and the food was made and served really well (pics of the Winter special bratwurst, American pancakes, pain au choc & chia pudding - wish I'd taken pics of the samosas & the indian thali as they were both incredible!) ”
